Day 1: Gondar – Sankaber

Meet at Gondar (airport/hotel) and drive to the Simien Mountains via Debark, the park’s headquarters. Pass Simien Lodge and take a short hike to spot endemic wildlife, stunning viewpoints, and diverse flora.
Overnight at Sankaber campsite (3,250m).

Day 2: Sankaber – Geech (14 km, 5–6 hrs)

Hike to Geech, passing the 500m Jinbar Waterfall. Spot Gelada monkeys, unique bird species, and alpine plants.
Overnight at Geech campsite.

Day 3: Geech – Chennek (17 km, 7–8 hrs)

Trek via Imet Gogo, one of the most spectacular viewpoints, and Inatye (4,070m) with dramatic cliffs. Encounter Walia Ibex and other endemic wildlife.
Overnight at Chennek campsite.

Day 4: Chennek – Ambiquo/Gondar

Choose from two options:

1. End the trek: Hike to Buwahit Peak (4,430m), Ethiopia’s second-highest peak, via Buwahit Pass (4,200m), then return to Chennek and drive back to Gondar.

2. Extend the trek: After reaching Buwahit Peak, continue to Ambiquo to climb Ras Dejen or explore the lowlands.

Day 5: Chennek – Ambiquo (19 km, 9–10 hrs)

Cross Buwahit Pass (4,200m), descend to the Mesheha Valley (2,800m), and climb to Ambiquo campsite (3,200m), the base for Ras Dejen.

Day 6: Ambiquo – Ras Dejen – Ambiquo (13 km, 9–10 hrs)

Start early (4:00 AM) for a challenging ascent to Ras Dejen (4,543m), Ethiopia’s highest peak.
Return to Ambiquo for the night.

Day 7: Ambiquo – Sona (25 km, 9–10 hrs)

Descend through villages and cultivated land. Enjoy sunset views from Sona campsite.

Day 8: Sona – Mekarebiya (Descent to 2,000m)

Descend to the Insiya River for a swim and laundry. Pass through Makarabia village and continue to Mekarebiya campsite.

Day 9: Mekarebiya – Mulit

Hike through warm, palm-lined trails. Camp near towering rock pinnacles with stunning valley views.

Day 10: Mulit – Adi Arkay – Gondar/Axum (2 hrs hiking + drive)

A short hike to Adi Arkay (1,500m), where you’ll meet your transport. Return to Gondar or continue to Axum (180 km).
